Panchang has 5 parts; Tithi, Vaar, Yoga, Nakshatra and Karana. Half of the Tithi is called Karana, there are 11 Karanas in total. 7th Karan is called as Vishti or Bhadra. In Bhadra or Vishti Karan, auspicious work is prohibited. If ever auspicious work in Bhadra cannot be avoided, then by leaving the Bhulok Bhadra and Mukh Bhadra, auspicious works can be done in the Puchha Bhadra and Sward and Patal Bhadra.
According to Muhurta Chintamani, when Moon is in Cancer, Leo, Aquarius or Pisces, Bhadra resides on Bhulok, when Moon is in Aries, Taurus, Gemini or Scorpio, Bhadra resides in Swarg and when Moon is in Virgo. If it is in Libra, Sagittarius or Capricorn, then Bhadra is in Patal. Bhadra lasts for 5 hours in the Mukh, 2 hours in the Kanth, 11 hours in the Hridya and 4 hours in the Puchha.
